PACTRIMS was established in 2007 to provide neurologists and other healthcare professionals, as well as scientists interested in the field of MS, with a regional network for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience.
 
It is the youngest of other similar committees around the world alongside counterparts:
 
American Committee on Treatment and Research of Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS)
European Committee on Treatment and Research of Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS)
Latin American Committee on Treatment and Research of Multiple Sclerosis (LACTRIMS)
